December 1, 2016 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources have recommended the following communities within the Mid-Missouri RPC region for 2016 grant funding through the federal Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) program:
Twenty-five applications were received for 2016, with a total funding request of nearly $2.4 million. The grant applications were evaluated on the basis of need, planning goals, and unique or special attributes.
The LWCF is federal pass-through grant administered by the Division of State Parks. LWCF grant funds are available to local governments, cities or counties and school districts. The purpose of the program is to create and maintain outdoor recreation areas. Projects require a 55 percent match. Eligible LWCF projects include acquisition of property, development of new outdoor recreation facilities or renovation of existing properties.
